“I seek to share my art with others in hopes of sparking thoughtful conversation with the viewer. It is my hope to help shed light on some of the often-challenging topics that I address in my work.”
Priscilla Bell Lamberty was born in North Philadelphia and grew up in the Hunting Park section of the city. She pursued her passion for art at Moore College of Art and Design, earning a BFA in 2D Fine Arts, and later completed her MFA in Painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 2010.
As an artist, Priscilla draws inspiration from family, surroundings, and cultural traditions. Her work explores themes that are deeply meaningful to her, including parenthood, environmental responsibility, and representation of the African diaspora and Indigenous Caribbean identities.
In recognition of her contributions, Priscilla has been named an MIT Solve Indigenous Communities Fellow in 2024 and received the Leeway Transformation Award the same year. She was honored as a Distinguished Alumni by the Community College of Philadelphia in 2023 and received the Taíno Muralist of the Year and Phenomenal Woman awards in 2020. Her work was also recognized with the Leeway Art & Change Grant in 2017, along with the Taíno Storyteller of the Year award that same year.
In addition to her independent projects, Priscilla collaborates as a freelance muralist with Mural Arts Philadelphia and shares her knowledge as a painting instructor at Fleisher Art Memorial.
